Harvesting potatoes

After our hard work planting several types of potatoes (red, white and blue) earlier this year, it was time for the harvest! Unfortunately the lack of rain over recent months – yet another sign of climate change – meant that our potatoes were rather small.

Not to be discouraged, the children helped us dig up what we had and we are very proud of our little crop. And we are certainly able to say that these potatoes are LOAF – Locally grown, Organic, Animal friendly and Fairtrade.

Jean kindly brought along some home-grown tomatoes for us so that we didn’t feel too disappointed that our church-grown crop wasn’t bounteous.

It’s so lovely to see our churchyard being productive, even in a small way. And a great way to show our children what can be achieved through a little bit of effort, care and patience!
