Each year, the runners of the Fun Run recieve a blessing from the Rector of Holy Trinity. It really is an honour to offer this blessing, and I know it means a lot to some of the runners. This year, I made sure to give thanks for the charities being represented, and to offer a prayer for the safety of the runners. Following the blessing, I get to remain in position right next to the start line as the runners cross the blue platform to trigger their start time. It's always lovely to get a wave or a smile from friends old and new.
The community spirit in the Royal Town was as evident as ever with thousands of people cheering for the runners and plenty of volunteers supporting the event.
Holy Trinity opened its doors during the Fun Run and we were delighted to welcome many people who had never been into the church building before. We also had a stand on Vesey Gardens and met lots of people passing by. We also enjoyed cheering on Nick Revell, a member of our congregation who was running to raise money for the church. (Thank you, Nick!)
Thank you to everyone who made the event such a great success. It was great to play a very small part in the day.
