From Palms to Resurrection: Remembering Holy Week

Updated: May 4

With the joyous celebrations of Easter Sunday still fresh in our hearts, we at Holy Trinity look back with gratitude on a deeply meaningful Holy Week. It was a time where our community journeyed together through the poignant final days of Jesus Christ, from his triumphant entry into Jerusalem to the profound sacrifice on the cross and the glorious resurrection that followed. Each service and act of participation served as a powerful reminder of the love, sacrifice, and ultimate triumph that lie at the heart of our faith.

Our observance commenced on Palm Sunday, with Father Graham leading a spirited procession, waving palm branches in remembrance of Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem. As the week unfolded, we engaged in various services that offered space for reflection and contemplation. A particularly moving experience was our Walk of Witness, where members of our congregation and other churches from Sutton prayerfully carried the cross through our community's streets, pausing at significant points for reflection and shared devotion. This tangible act of bearing the symbol of Christ's sacrifice brought a powerful dimension to our Holy Week journey.

The culmination of our observance was the Easter Sunday service, led by Rev Becky. The air was filled with joy and celebration as we proclaimed the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In a moving moment of communal rededication, congregation members were invited to renew their baptismal vows, reaffirming their commitment to the Christian faith. Holy Trinity's Holy Week was a testament to our shared faith and a powerful reminder of the enduring hope that Easter brings.
