The latest concert at Holy Trinity organised by the Friends group featured the outstanding Zelkova String Quartet. The programme led us from Mozart’s ever popular “Eine kleine Nachtmusik” to two quartets by famous composers of the nineteenth century – Mendelssohn and Dvorak. The audience were wowed by the quartet’s exuberant performance and clear passion for the music they were playing. Three of the quartet are siblings from a musical family who grew up in the Solihull area and attended the Birmingham Junior Conservatoire. Two of them attended Chetham’s music school and all four quartet members have studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, subsequently playing in leading orchestras across the UK as well as in chamber ensembles.
