Holy Trinity Church
David Jones was born in Sutton Coldfield and attended Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School. Now a prize-winning professional baritone, he regularly performs across the UK and Europe.
In May and June 2018, David is undertaking Song Cycle: a thousand-mile journey on his Brompton folding bike from John O’ Groats to Land’s End, to mark the sixtieth anniversary of the death of composer Ralph Vaughan Williams.
Along the way he is giving performances of Songs of Travel, a song cycle written by Vaughan Williams on poems by Robert Louis Stevenson. By passing through the landscapes that inspired Stevenson and Vaughan Williams, David is forming a deeper connection with these beautiful songs.
The performance at Holy Trinity marks David’s first performance in Sutton Coldfield since his school days, and includes the Songs of Travel alongside favourite songs by Butterworth, Britten and Gurney.
Song Cycle is supporting the life-changing work of the charity Live Music Now. Learn more at www.livemusicnow.org.uk
Please note: this concert is not part of the Friends of Holy Trinity 2017-18 season of concerts and events.
