Volunteer weekday stewards

Our  grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund in 2017-19 enabled us to recruit  stewards to open the church during the week for people to look round or sit for a while.

We try to keep the church  open as much as possible in this way (outside of service times) during office hours and at weekends. As well as welcoming all who might wish to enter, the stewards are trained to support any enquiries from visitors, including chatting about the church’s historical features.  Tea and coffee are usually on offer too!

Younger people can undertake service awards e.g. for the Duke of Edinburgh awards and FE or HE course requirements. We are also keen to introduce family stewarding, and we can never have too many committed volunteers to take on this role and enable us to be open as much as possible.

If you’d like to know more about becoming a steward, why not come along on a day the church is open and chat to one of the stewards about what they do? You may find it helpful to download and read the job description below.

If you’d like to be considered for the steward role, and you are 16 or over, contact Stella Thebridge on heritage@htsc.org.uk.
