Midlands radio celebrity Les Ross is our host. Combining talent from across the West Midlands, the award winning BMOS Musical Theatre Company will be joined by internationally-acclaimed pianist Di Xiao and by Birmingham-based strings ensemble - Enigma. This is a chance to celebrate in style the confirmation of Sutton's Royal Town status!

 

Special Guest Star - Les Ross MBE

 

Starting his broadcasting career at Radio Birmingham in 1970, Les has been a legend in Midlands radio broadcasting for over 30 years after presenting programmes on BRMB, Xtra AM, BBC WM and SAGA before it became Smooth Radio. multi Sony Radio Award winner, Les was awarded an MBE for services to broadcasting by the Queen in 1996. 

 

BMOS Musical Theatre Company

 

Founded in 1886, the company is steeped in history but is also one of the most modern and forward thinking companies in the region. They are the only amateur company to perform on the prestigious Hippodrome main stage every few years and also enjoy 'treading the boards' at The Old Rep Theatre on Station Street. Enigma String Quartet are a professional group established in 1995. The ensemble members are all graduates of the Birmingham Conservatoire and have performed live on many occasions backing artists such as Il Divo, Katherine Jenkins, Russell Watson, Smokey Robinson and George Benson.

 

International prize winning classical pianist Di Xiao has been described as “a pianist of awesome gifts” by the press. She regularly thrills audiences across the world with her repertoire reflecting a broad spectrum of interests with a wide range of musical styles. Visit her website.
