The new church 'coffee bar' gets well used for social events

We thought it was time for an update on what the Social Committee has been up to.

The 'Film Club' is still very popular. We meet on the first Monday of the month at 7pm in the Trinity Centre, but you need to be there by 6.45pm to get a good seat! The film we’re showing is advertised in the service sheet and in the weekly newsletter. New members always welcome.

The Knit 'n' Natter group is growing, with emphasis very much on the natter! We have knitting, drawing and crafts. The group recently knitted a nativity set, for a trail at Christmas around Sutton. The various characters were on display in shops around the Gracechurch Centre, with children being invited to complete a trail sheet and to bring it to the Crib Service to claim a prize. The group also made a life size nativity tableau for the entrance to the church, which was much admired.

Members of the Social Committee carry on supporting the various Friends events with refreshments. Future events include the Fret and Fiddle concert this weekend (3rd Feb) and The British Police Symphony Orchestra on 17th March. Please do come to both of these - and bring your friends!

We’re also helping with refreshments for an organ recital to demonstrate the new digital organ. It’s on Saturday 17th February at 11.00am in church. It is free to attend, but it would help if you could let us know you’re coming (email admin@htsc.org.uk) so we know how many to cater for.

Finally -  save the date - we're holding a Quiz, complete with a fish and chip supper, to celebrate St George's Day on Saturday 21st April. Tickets on sale nearer the time.
