A busy social life

Since the last blog from the Social Committee, we’ve been very busy.

On the first Monday of each month we have the film club – recently we’ve watched ‘Madame Bovary’ and ‘A United Kingdom’, and on 7th August the film will be ‘The Light Between The Oceans’.   And on the second Monday each month, in the afternoon, our new Knit ‘n’ Natter/Craft group meets – we’re now going great guns, knitting squares for blankets and Nativity characters for Christmas.

We held a Quiz with a fish and chip supper in June, raising £154.00 for charity, and a good time was had by all.  In July we did what we do best, providing refreshments for two Friends’ events – a ‘Canoldir Male Voice Choir’ Concert, and a production by Intimate Theatre.

Our busy programme continues in August – on Saturday 5th a group of us are meeting at Park House for a meal.

From September 7th to 17th, the church will be open for Heritage Open Days and Heritage Week, and we’ll be there providing refreshments, setting up activities and stewarding.  The main Open Day is on the Saturday 9th; and on Saturday 16th there’s an evening concert by ‘The Night Watch’ focusing on music from Medieval times.  We’ll also be helping with the Art/Photographic Competition – people of all ages will be encouraged to enter works on the broad theme of Holy Trinity.

In October, we will be helping at the Parish Weekend/Harvest event.  This is on 7th/8th October from 12 noon on the Saturday until 12 noon on Sunday – after the Harvest Festival Service.  There will be worship, craft, adventure activities, Bible Study and a Barn Dance with a fish and chip supper.  And we’ll be providing a ‘Big Breakfast’ on the Sunday morning to set us up for the day!

Watch this space, it’s all happening!
