Friends of HT - a word from our Chair

It's hard to believe that we are approaching the 4th anniversary of the Friends of Holy Trinity and the end of our 4th season of events. In that time, the Friends have raised almost £40,000 - exclusively towards the building and fabric of the church - and organised a staggering 24 events! A real team effort from so many people at Holy Trinity!

On the 4th June, Nicola & I completed the 8.5 mile Great Midlands Fun Run, raising sponsorship for the Friends of Holy Trinity. I managed to complete the course in 1 hr 14 mins and Nicola 1 hr 32 mins. Two of our sons - James and Ben - also took part with James shaming his Dad by a time of 1 hr 12 mins! £355 was raised, with Gift Aid reclaim to come. Well done to all who took part and thank you for your kind sponsorship.

Two more events are to come this season before we can relax for the Summer. The acclaimed Canoldir Male Voice Choir will be with us for a concert on the 1st July, and Intimate Theatre will present "Miss Julie" on the 15th July. Tickets for both are already on sale at htsc.org.uk or from the Trinity Centre office (tel : 0121 321 1144).

"Miss Julie" is a play by August Strindberg set on Midsummer's Eve on the estate of a Swedish Count, the young woman of the title is drawn to a senior servant, a valet named Jean, who is particularly well-travelled, well-mannered and well-read. The action takes place in the kitchen of Miss Julie's father's manor, where Jean's fiancée, a servant named Christine, cooks and sometimes sleeps while Jean and Miss Julie talk. On this night the relationship between Miss Julie and Jean escalates rapidly. A fantastic theatrical piece to look forward to.

The Committee is busy organising our 5th season of events which kicks off with The Night Watch presenting music through the ages right from the mediaeval period with authentic instruments on the 16th September. This will form part of a heritage weekend.

Exciting times ahead! Thank you so much for your continuing support through membership and attending our events.
